The US President Donald trump.
WASHINGTON, Nov 8 — US President Donald trump once again extended the decree on sanctions against Iran nearly 40 years ago, said in a letter to trump Congress, released on Thursday.
“Our relations with Iran have not yet returned to normal,” stated trump.
It extended the Executive order 12170 of President Jimmy Carter signed in 1979 after the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran by Iranian students. The decree gives the US authorities wide powers to impose sanctions and other measures, and to regulate trade with Iran. In particular, it blocks any public property of Iran subject to U.S. jurisdiction.
