WASHINGTON, Nov 9 — the issue of possible US withdrawal from the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range nuclear forces (INF) was not raised during the meeting in Washington on Friday, U.S.-China dialogue on security and diplomacy, told reporters at its results, the US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.
“We did not spend time discussing this question today,” said Pompeo, answering the question that was raised whether the subject of the INF Treaty at the talks with Chinese counterparts.
Earlier, the President of the United States Donald trump announced that Washington would withdraw from the Treaty on intermediate-range and shorter-range. According to him, America will increase its nuclear capability as long as the others “comes to her senses”, then Washington will be ready to stop this process and proceed to arms reduction. He explained that this message is addressed primarily to China and Russia.
