BEIJING, 5 Dec — China is opposed to a Treaty on elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty) became multilateral, said Wednesday foreign Ministry spokesman China Geng Shuang.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump said that the United States intends to withdraw from the INF Treaty, signed in 1987, because, according to him, Russia is violating the agreement. In addition, Washington has indicated that a number of countries possessing missiles and medium-range, primarily China, are not parties to this agreement.
“The INF Treaty is a bilateral Treaty concluded between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Chinese side is opposed to the INF Treaty became multilateral,” — said at the briefing, Geng Shuang.
