U.S. ready to help investigate the disappearance of a Saudi journalist

MOSCOW, 10 Oct — the US is ready to assist in the investigation of the disappearance of the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul Saudi journalist Jamal Kalkaji, said Vice-President Mike Pence in an interview with us talk show Hugh Hewitt radio Salem Radio Network.

Previously, the Agency Reuters citing sources informed that, by assumption of the police Turkey, Kalkaji was killed in Istanbul to the Consulate of Saudi Arabia. In the Consulate denied this information. The representative of the foreign Ministry of Turkey Hami Aksoy said that Turkey received from the Saudi Arabia permit investigative steps in its Consulate in Istanbul in connection with the disappearance of Kalkaji.

“I think the U.S. is ready to support in any way. But, as I said yesterday, the free world deserves answers. And reports that Saudi journalist was tragically killed in Turkey should be cause for grave concern for everyone who cares about press freedom and human rights around the world,” said Pence, answering the question of whether to send U.S. technical experts of the FBI to the Consulate if asked by the Saudis.
