WASHINGTON, 5 Nov — Tatyana Kalmykova. Iran can sell oil for money, and in exchange for allowed Washington products, said an American diplomatic source.
On Monday, the US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo told reporters that the United States grant temporary exceptions to the oil sanctions to China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey.
According to the source, these countries will have to transfer money for the purchased crude oil to a special contingent account (escrow account). “If you’re a country that made an exception for six months, during this period, yet continues to buy Iranian crude oil, it can’t be paid in hard currency. We block off access to hard currency”, — said the diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity.
