Russian President Vladimir Putin.
MOSCOW, 5 Dec — American side has not provided any evidence of the alleged violation by Russia of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles, said Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the words of US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo on Washington to come out of the INF Treaty after 60 days if Moscow does not return to the performance of the contract.
Pompeo previously said that Russia has two months to return to the implementation of the INF Treaty. He added that if that happens, Washington will suspend obligations under the INF Treaty. The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in response to the word Pompeo said that Moscow is strictly implementing the agreement and Washington knows this.
As Putin said, “the statement of Mr. Pompeo belatedly, first, still, the American side has declared that it intends to withdraw from the Treaty on intermediate and shorter-range missiles, and then began to look for justification, why do they have to do it.” “The most important rationale is that we have something broken. This normally is no evidence of violations on our part is not available”, — he stressed.
