ATHENS, October 10 — Greece has established a very close cooperation with the United States in the defense sphere and the excellent cooperation within NATO and other international organizations, said Minister of national defense of Greece Panos Kammenos to journalists after a meeting at the Pentagon with Secretary of defense James Mattis.
“For the second time in those three years I had the opportunity to formally meet with the U.S. Secretary of defense James Matison, with whom we collaborated in NATO and international organizations in which we participate. During these three years, Greece along with the United States have established a very close defence cooperation, developing programs such as the modernization of aircraft F16 and a P-3 Orion. At the same time we got a free military aid from the US for very important equipment such as helicopters Chinook, Kiowa and other equipment that is not subject to disclosure,” said Kammenos.
As reported by the press service of the defense Ministry of Greece, Kammenos noted the support of the United States “in these difficult times, after the economic crisis in Greece and the Greek armed forces.”
