WASHINGTON, Oct 11 — Authorities in Florida announced the first victim of hurricane Michael which struck the Northern coast of the state on Wednesday.
A man from County Gadsden died after his house collapsed tree and blocked his exit, said the office of the local Sheriff. The exact cause of death is not specified. Rescuers are unable to reach the men because of blocked roads and broken power lines, said police.
The hurricane Michael weakened considerably after reaching the coast, the wind speed of 250 kilometers per hour dropped to 205 kilometers per hour, reported the national center for warnings about hurricanes. Category hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson fell from fourth to third, but this does not mean that the danger has decreased. The threat comes not only from strong wind but also from heavy rains and accompanying floods.
