WASHINGTON, 11 Oct — the Candidates in the midterm elections in the USA have already collected 1.7 billion dollars, told reporters at a briefing Wednesday in Washington, Vice-President, Federal election Commission Ellen Weintraub.
“Candidates in the house of representatives raised more than $ 1 billion, the candidates to the Senate, collected 626 million dollars, so these two categories had been collected to date about $ 1.7 billion,” said Weintraub. She clarified that this figure does not include funds collected “outside” the campaign funds that do not have a formal relationship with one or other of the candidates.
In General, according to her, the elections are expected to be quite costly. At the recent 2014 midterm elections has collected a total of $ 3.8 billion, but this figure includes the money raised by the candidates, and funds. In the elections of 2016, when election of deputies of the Congress was held simultaneously with the presidential election, spent a total of 6.4 billion dollars.
