MOSCOW, 30 Nov — Particles of lunar soil brought to Earth by the Soviet automatic station “Luna-16” in 1970, sold at auction auction house Sotheby’s in new York for 885 thousand dollars, according to the website of the auction house.

According to him, the assessment of the lot was from 700 thousand to 1 million dollars.

Gone under the hammer fragments of lunar soil enclosed in a metal box with the inscription in Russian “the soil Particles of the moon-16”. On the box there is a magnifying glass to better see under the glass particles of lunar soil.
