WASHINGTON, 12 Oct — the Decision of the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the rehabilitation of the leaders of the schismatic Church organizations and their followers will be rejected by other Orthodox churches, said the former Primate of the Orthodox Church in America Metropolitan Jonah (paffhausen).
In the world 15 local Orthodox churches, the Orthodox Church in America is one of them.
“Almost 400 years the Kyivan Metropolitanate was a part of the Moscow Church, and Constantinople trying to recall. I’m sure it will be rejected by other churches,” said ion.
In his opinion, this decision violates the Orthodox canons, and is “direct interference in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church.” He also said that such a move may lead to even greater division between the Moscow and Constantinople Patriarchates.
Earlier Thursday, the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople officially announced the decision to “restore” its representation in Kiev, to make the communication leaders of the schismatic Church structures in Ukraine and to withdraw the decision of Constantinople in 1686 on the transfer of the Patriarch of Moscow of the right to ordain the metropolitans of Kiev.
